New Mexico

From ancient dwellings to healing waters, we soaked up the spirit of New Mexico. We wandered through the ruins at Pecos National Historical Park, stepped back in time at Taos Pueblo (the longest-inhabited dwellings in the U.S), relaxed in Montezuma Hot Springs, and spotted wildlife at the Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge (a herd of 200 elk at sunset). Every stop held a story—and we loved uncovering each one. We actually stayed at and took care of a remote farmstead near the small town of Las Vegas, but very off the beaten path on a gravel road. We learned what it means that New Mexico is a "fence out" state and had a great time living the rural New Mexico life for the week.
